Thank you to all who have participated in SRC's e-waste collection events this year!
Over 560 pounds of e-waste have been collected and diverted from the landfill.
Event 1 - May 2025: E-waste pickup event near Uptown
Event 2 - September 2025: E-waste collection event with University Lutheran Church of Hope
These Minneapolis-based events were pilots for our electronic waste recycling program, and based on participation, we're looking forward to continuing this service in the future!
Residents’ non-working computers, monitors, televisions, tablets, and cell phones were collected, weighed, and delivered to a local certified recycler.
Why is this important? Electronics often contain mercury, lead, cadmium, and other harmful chemicals and are frequently sent to landfills or incinerators at the end of their life. SRC’s collection service intercepts them to ensure they are properly recycled.
Keep an eye out for more e-waste recycling opportunities! In the meantime, check our FAQ below for helpful information about where your devices may be accepted.

Many other e-waste recycling services exist in Hennepin County.* Here is a short list:
Hennepin County has two drop-off locations (Bloomington and Brooklyn Park) and accepts electronic waste from Hennepin, Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington county households. Proof of residency is required (a driver's license or utility bill is preferred. More information can be found here). Cash, check, major credit cards, and debit cards are accepted.
Repowered, located in Minneapolis, accepts electronics with a cable, cord, or battery (and many other electronics) from businesses and individuals, and handles data destruction for these items. Recycling drop-off to Repowered’s St. Paul location is free for residents of Ramsey County, and a pricing guide is available for residents of other counties.
Electronics Recycling of Minnesota is located in Northeast Minneapolis and accepts many e-waste items for free, including laptops, smart phones, tablets, speakers, and more (and handles data destruction for these items).
The Retrofit Companies, Inc. accepts recycling drop-offs (lamps, TVs, monitors, computers, batteries, etc.) from residents and businesses at their Little Canada location. Download the walk-in price list to see their full range of offerings.
Free Geek Twin Cities is located in Minneapolis and offers drop-off recycling services for most devices, except items that are very large or contain hazardous materials (i.e. solar panels, TVs larger than 55”, light bulbs, etc.).
If your items are still in good shape, look for donation opportunities near you (for example, Hennepin County’s Choose to Reuse website, or MN Tech for Success).
*Fees are charged for certain (often large) items at all drop-off facilities.
