SRC's Greenhouse Gas Emissions & Carbon Offsetting

How does SRC take responsibility

for our own emissions?

SRC tracks tailpipe greenhouse gas emissions through work-related travel mileage. Fortunately, the routine work we do makes this simple to calculate and our annual totals remain low. However, local travel is essential to SRC’s work and mission, so we are choosing to contribute to a carbon project to offset our current impact while keeping reducing emissions our long-term priority.

Our offsetting partner

As an organization based in the Midwest, our goal is that all our emissions—both positive and negative—stay close to home. For this reason, we have chosen to partner with Anew Climate to contribute to a nature-based, American Carbon Registry-verified project in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Anew Climate’s Bayfield County Forest Project is the best fit for our offsetting goals:

  • Local, nature-based project committed to enacting positive change that has a clear effect on the environment

  • Offsetting funding benefits an entity unable to fund the project itself

  • Detailed project documentation is provided upfront

  • Project is verified through a top organization

  • Local economy directly benefits from the project
