Focus:

The American Association for Retired Persons reported that in 2010 nearly 90% of people over the age of 65 indicated that they want to stay in their home as long possible and 80% believe their current home is where they will always live.  Supporting an aging populations ability to stay in their homes must include home accessibility and safety, eliminating housing based health hazards such as moisture, excess heat and cold, poor indoor air quality.

"Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans.  Falls threaten seniors' safety and independence and generate enormous economic and personal costs."

-National Council on Aging

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one fourth of Americans 65 and older fall each year. These falls can have a big impact on a persons and households quality of life. Many adults fear falling and, as a result, limit their activities and social engagements. This may lead to physical decline, depression, and social isolation. CHORES aims to target all issues surrounding the health of the individual and home environment.
