SRC works with Hennepin County to administer HUD Lead Grants to protect children from lead-based paint hazards. Through this program, grants are available to eligible homeowners and rental property owners to replace lead painted windows in pre-1978 homes.
The Lead Hazard Control Grant helps income-eligible Hennepin County residents with young children identify and repair lead hazards in their homes. Our goals are to teach families about the dangers of lead and help reduce the risks of lead poisoning by addressing hazards at home.
The program offers grant funds to help replace older windows because 1) windows are a common source of lead dust in the home and 2) replacing them can be one of the most expensive of home rehab projects.
Eligible properties must:
- Be located in Hennepin County
- Be built prior to 1978
- Be privately owned
- Owner-occupied property must have a child under the age of 6 that lives there or frequently visits
- Not be project based Section 8 (but properties with tenant vouchers are eligible)
- If occupied, occupants must meet the income limits below:
|1 person Household||2 person household||3 person household||4 person household||5 person household||6 person household||7 person household||8 person household|
