JOB TITLE: ENERGY CONSERVATION SPECIALIST

SALARY RANGE: $52,000 - $64,000 DOQ EXCELLENT, FULL BENEFIT PACKAGE

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position performs field inspections, calculates energy savings, determines cost-effective and practical repairs, completes data entry, creates work orders for contractors, and educates low-income clients on utility bills.
SUPERVISION: The Director of Weatherization
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Performs 4 to 5 on-site energy audits per week following the MN Weatherization Assistance Program protocol. Includes inspection and analysis of building envelope, heating systems, electrical, plumbing and all other aspects of building characteristics that may be considered for home improvement, with an emphasis on energy conservation.
• Use a wide variety of testing and diagnostic equipment (blower door, infrared cameras, and furnace testing equipment, CO testing, oxygen, efficiency tests) for the purposes of identifying energy conservation potential and unsafe or hazardous conditions.
• Complete data entry into program specific software per program requirements.
• Create work orders for mechanical and insulation contractors.
• Assist in the tracking of contractor progress on issued work orders.
• Make and receive phone calls to/from clients and contractors.
• Conduct Quality Control Inspections following the MN Weatherization Assistance Program protocol.
• Responsible for knowing MN State Weatherization Policy Manual program rules and guidelines.
• Occasionally must be available for some client-required evening or weekend appointments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prefer experience in residential energy auditing, including US DOE Weatherization Protocol and furnace testing experience.
• Currently certified as a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst and/or Building Performance Institute - Quality Control Inspector (QCI), or be willing to become certified within 180 days.
• Must be able to relate to and communicate effectively with varied socio-economic individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Must be able to crawl, climb, and otherwise move about in confined spaces, often dusty and dirty work sites.
• Computer skills and high comfort level with modern office technology are needed.

JOB TITLE: HEALTHY HOMES/LEAD HAZARD CONTROL CREW MEMBER

SALARY RANGE:  $14 - $16/HR TO START - DOQ.  EXCELLENT, FULL BENEFIT PACKAGE

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Reduce lead hazards in families homes though elimination and/or remediation of lead.Crew Members will work in families’ homes from all cultures in a variety of settings. Crew Members work in coordination with SRC’s lead program and weatherization program and other community partners.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

 SPECIALIZED CLEANING: Effectively remove lead dust from homes to reduce lead hazard.

 LEAD HAZARD CONTROL ACTIVITY: Stabilize and paint deteriorated surfaces. Repaint or enclose stabilized surfaces. Replace windows; contain work area to meet state and federal standards.

 HOME REPAIR WORK: General carpentry and/or repairs/replacement of home safety equipment, e.g. handrails, grab bars.

 AC DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION: Deliver and install window and through-wall air conditioners.

 COMMUNICATION: Effectively communicate with diverse populations, fellow crew members, supervisors, and government agencies.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Passion for helping low-income families is a must! If you have not had the necessary training, we will provide it for you.
  • Must be able to wear provided protective safety equipment as required by State and Federal Law including half-mask respirators, protective eyewear, shoe covers, Tyvex suits, and work gloves.
  • Crew members must be willing to work in families' homes and in a variety of settings that may feel uncomfortable.
  • Must be able to follow directions, but have the ability to problem-solve as needed.
  • Must be able to lift at least 60 pounds. Must be able to work on hands and knees, and in small or tight places and/or on ladders.

ADDITIONAL INFO: 

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Lead Worker License and EPA RRP Training preferred or the ability to attain license within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be able to pass BCA background check and have valid, insurable driver's license and must be willing to drive organization's vehicles to worksites.

SRC REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL

Weatherization Program Insulation and Mechanical (HVAC) Contractor(s)

I. OVERVIEW
SRC is seeking proposals from both Insulation Contractors and Mechanical (HVAC) Contractors to contract for United States Department of Energy ('DOE"), Low Income Weatherization Services, administered by the Minnesota Department of Commerce ("DOC"), and delivered by SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES CENTER, INC.
II. INTRODUCTION
Sustainable Resources Center, Inc. (SRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the cause of healthy homes. Our mission is to partner with families and communities to create healthy and energy-efficient home environments.
SRC's vision is that all families in Minnesota live in homes that are free of lead, toxins, harmful moisture, mold and pests, are safe, have clean indoor air, and are energy efficient.
Working with low-income families for over 40 years, SRC has become a leader in retrofitting homes to be more energy efficient.
III. NATURE OF THE PROJECT
This Request for Proposal ("RFP") is to contract with insulation and HVAC contractors for United States Department of Energy ("DOE"), Low Income Weatherization Program, administered by the Minnesota Department of Commerce ("DOC"), and delivered by SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES CENTER, INC., based and operating within the State of Minnesota.
Each applicant's qualifications and all contracted services provided by or under the applicant must fully comply with all applicable DOE weatherization assistance and financial assistance program requirements and regulations. This RFP is limited to contracted insulation and HVAC services specifically described in this RFP and the program requirements associated with them.
