Lead Safe Work Practices Class

Location: 1081 Tenth Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414

Description: Intended for any homeowners or renters living in pre-1978 homes, this course includes step by step instructions and hands on exercises for working lead safe. It meets the training requirements for participants in the grant programs of Minneapolis and Hennepin County, or for those who have work orders on their homes. It is based on an EPA and National Center for Healthy Housing curriculum. Class fee is $125, but there is no charge for grant participants.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a landlord who plans to work in a tenant's unit (built before 1978), or contractor working on homes built before 1978, you need to attend the Renovatation, Repair and Paiting (RRP) course certified by the EPA. Find a list of RRP classes.

A Matter of Balance Workshop

 

Description: A Matter of Balance is an award winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. It consists of eight two hour classes where participants learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home, and exercise to increase strength and balance.

Tai Ji Quan

 

Description: Tai Ji Quan is an evidence-based fall prevention and balance training program for older adults. Sessions are two times a week for twelve weeks. Participants will earn and practice 8 forms of Yang style Tai Chi adapted for fall prevention to improve flexibility, strength, and balance.
