Lead-Safe Work Practices for HOMEOWNERS (LSWP)

 

*LSWP - Friday, October 24, 2014 9a-noon

Location: SRC 1081 10th Ave SE Minneapolis, MN 55414

Intended for any homeowners or renters living in pre-1978 homes, this 3-hour course includes step by step instructions and hands on exercises for working lead safe. It meets the training requirements for participants in the grant programs of Minneapolis and Hennepin County, or for those who have work orders on their homes. It is based on an EPA and National Center for Healthy Housing curriculum. Class fee is $125, but there is no charge for grant participants.

*Healthy Homes for Community Health Workers Course
Friday, September 26, 2014 from 9:30am-5pm

Location: Northeast Library, 2200 Old Central Avenue, Minneapolis, MN  55418

The National Center for Healthy Housing has developed this course for Community Health Workers and individuals who work as health advocates in their communities. Participants will gain insight into how housing and health are related and actions they can take to improve the health of their clients. This eight-hour course will train CHWs to provide one-on-one and large group education on healthy homes, provide general advice about specific healthy homes problems, and be able to recommend healthy homes approaches to be taken by families, landlords and other community members. The fee for this class is only $25 which covers lunch.  The course has been generously sponsored by Hennepin County through their Healthy Homes Grant. This course has been approved by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation for 6.0 Continuing Education Credit hours.  To register for Healthy Homes for Community Health Workers class, please send an email to Shyla Earl, s.earl@src-mn.org.
